Station Tours

Here at the EVFD, many of our members once found themselves staring up at a big red firetruck in awe, wanting nothing more than to be a firefighter. We love giving tours, but due to the uncertainty of calls, staffing, and other issues, we require advanced notice. In some cases, we may be able to bring the fire engine to you, but there are no guarantees.

We are also happy to accommodate scout packs, dens, and troops working toward the completion of their badges relating to first aid and preparedness. Because we have no formal scout training, it is up to the leaders to create teaching guidelines.

Per current Covid restrictions, we are able to give tours to groups with limited number of guests. Please contact us for more information or to book a tour!

Home Safety Inspections

According to the U.S. Fire Administration, residential fires account for the largest category of fire fatalities, with more than 405,000 fires per year, 3,600 deaths, 18,600 injuries, and $4.7 billion in damages. In those fatal fires, only 12% of homes had functional smoke alarms.

The EVFD has developed a revolutionary program that will help to ensure the safety of the residents of Edgewood. If requested, a member of the EVFD will come to your place of residency and, through a strict program developed by our certified Fire Inspectors, inspect your house for the functionality of your smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, extinguishers, and other life safety devices. The firefighter will also evaluate any unsafe conditions, such as overloaded outlets, crowded space heaters, or outdoor grills and firepits. In addition, the firefighter will record specific pertinent data, such as utility shut off locations and the nearest fire hydrant, as well as dangers, such as hidden basements and construction hazards. The EVFD can quickly reference this information in the event of a fire, allowing our response to be safe, efficient, and effective.  Although this program is not yet required for the residents of Edgewood, it is highly recommended and could one day save the lives of you or your family.
